Overview

Beng Swee handles a wide range of civil dispute resolution matters which include commercial & property claims, anti-trust matters, medical negligence claims, personal accident & work injury claims and intellectual property claims such as copyright & trademark infringements. A seasoned litigator, Beng Swee started his legal career as a criminal lawyer after being called to the Singapore bar in 1993. He was conferred his Master of Law degree by the National University of Singapore in 1998.

Beng Swee specialises mainly in building and construction law and is well versed in the standard forms of building contracts. In this regard, he has been involved in various building and construction-related court proceedings and arbitrations. Beng Swee has also participated in numerous adjudications under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (Cap 30B). Beng Swee is an accredited Adjudicator and is equipped with an in-depth understanding of the adjudication regime.

Outside of the courtroom, Beng Swee has represented several multinational Chinese and Indonesian companies in various high-value cross-border transactions, including joint venture investments in mineral processing plants and procurement contracts in China. Proficient in the Chinese language, he is well equipped to advise clients in Mandarin and has drafted numerous commercial documents worded in English and Chinese.

Beng Swee is well acquainted with the lift and escalator industry in Singapore. He serves as the Legal Advisor to the Singapore Lift & Escalator Contractors and Manufacturers Association (SLECMA).
